One of my most treasured memories with Uncle John Paul and my brother Tyler is our trip to China. We found ourselves at a housewarming party in Hunan, where the house was still under construction and the winter cold was biting. Despite the frigid air that had us rushing out mid-celebration to buy warmer coats, the three of us never stopped smiling or laughing. That’s just the way Uncle John Paul and Tyler were—always able to find joy in any situation.
After Hunan, we explored the vibrant streets of Hong Kong together. I’ll never forget wandering Lan Kwai Fong late into the night, taking in the bright lights, lively crowds, and the thrilling pulse of the city. We even joined in with an Asian-British cover band, belting out songs as though we were headliners ourselves! It was an adventure that perfectly captured their free-spirited nature: bold, curious, and dedicated to savoring every moment.
Though Uncle John Paul and Tyler are no longer here, the memories of that journey live on in my heart. Their laughter, camaraderie, and unstoppable sense of fun continue to guide me, reminding me just how precious life is—and how a little adventure with the people you love can last forever.
