Uncle John Paul was not just an amazing uncle but also a devoted godfather. He and Auntie Joann had a special way of bringing the family together every Christmas Eve—a cherished tradition that will forever hold a special place in my heart. When I lived in Denver, I loved going over to help decorate, wrap presents, and spend time with them.
Uncle John Paul had a kindness that radiated to everyone around him. No matter the circumstances, he was always a friendly face you could count on. Some of my favorite memories with him are from Steamboat Springs, like the time I saw my first porcupine behind their house or when we went tubing, even when young Matt got scared or we lost Grandma for a bit. His adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors were one of the best things about him.
I like to think that he and T are up there together now, having a blast and are undoubtably the best guardian angels we could ask for. I will love and miss Uncle John Paul every single day.
